Saisons de France
A seasonal produce calendar for French restaurants: what to buy, when, at what price, and how to cook it.
Saisons de France brings together 694 products from mainland France and its overseas territories, from vegetables and fish to cheeses, flours, spices and wines, each with its month-by-month season, value for money and originality. A dial you spin with your finger changes the month, and the whole site follows: market of the month, a map of regional specialities, foraging and fishing, a yearly calendar. Every product sheet suggests a dish, pairings, a wine, a cost-saving tip and nutrition data from France's official Ciqual table. It adds 177 recipes (costed regional classics, sourced historical recipes, light dishes, high-protein dishes, signature dishes of Michelin-starred chefs) and a directory of 85 spices.
- A season dial you spin with your finger, driven by interruptible physics springs with momentum and bounce, built without any library
- A hand-built SVG map of mainland and overseas France with 9 layers: specialities, cheeses by milk, shore fishing, freshwater, sturgeon farms, crops, unusual farms, truffles, markets
- Nutrition for 610 products from France's official ANSES Ciqual table, an indicative Nutri-Score recalculated with the 2024 algorithm, and EU Regulation 1924/2006 nutrition claims
- Costed recipes: food cost per portion and suggested menu price, with nutrition calculated ingredient by ingredient for light and high-protein recipes
- Built for AI: an llms.txt file, full JSON and CSV export, schema.org structured data, direct links to every product sheet and a "Copy for AI" button
- A kitchen-friendly reading mode (large text, no motion, screen kept awake) and printable PDF editions by region
